Blogger for Hire! Are you kidding me?
May 1, 2008 by leahmcchesney
As I was searching through Entrepreneur’s Blog today, I didn’t get very far as I read this on their home page.
“Now that the novelty of corporate blogging has passed, blogs are being viewed as a branding voice. Companies like Coca-Cola, Marriott and Kodak have all hired chief bloggers to engage customers and share their stories”. Entrepreneur Blog
All I could think is…are you kidding me?
Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?
I think more and more companies are realizing the importance of blogs, but aren’t really converted to it’s purpose and benefits.
It now explains why I found Marriott’s blog boring, I didn’t feel like I was getting to know the man behind the scene. I am truly disappointed as I have a personal interest in Marriott.
How can a ghostwriter deliver the passion?
So I did some looking into bloggers for hire, I never realized the huge industry growing around this ‘need’. This industry allows companies to view blogs as something to do. Hire a blogger, check!
All I can really say is, like all things in life you get out of it what you put into it.
If they don’t offer us the real deal doesn’t that defeat the purpose of social media ? This approach will separate the superficial from the genuine.

So true.
I went to the new blog that Kenneth Cole has - and it’s all hype. Stuff that is trying desperately to get the public to like the company for what they “believe” in.
To me, blogs are written by people, for people. I have never really gone to a corporate blog and gotten any kind of a good feeling.
